Laboratory #3: Diversity and equity
march 9 - march 10, 2017
TeacherSquared Labs are in-person events where participants from a range of teacher prep providers meet to share, learn, and create - identifying common problems and creating innovative tools or artifacts to solve these problems. Labs include whole group learning & sharing moments as well as topic-specific breakout groups that engage in a rapid cycle product development protocol. After the lab, groups meet virtually to continue development of their products, document their pilot implementations ,and collect and analyze data to gauge the effectiveness and value of their products.
TeacherSquared providers train novice teachers to work in high-need K-12 school environments. Our institutions are aligned in that we all aim to meet student needs by training our teacher candidates not just in academic content and general pedagogy but in areas related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. While each provider places a high value on engaging their candidates in these topics, the specific coursework, learning experiences, and topics vary greatly.
This Lab will focus on identifying common areas of need among providers and developing the objectives, deliverables, and project plans necessary to develop new and better ways of training novice teachers in these sensitive areas.
This event is open only to TeacherSquared providers.
